Ready for take off

So I have always had a slight addiction to looking at what celebs wear at the airport. Why? Because honestly it is the best way for me to steal their style and get real ideas because that it the type of clothing I wear everyday. Most of the time it is comfortable, with over sized sweaters, boots and jackets, and minus the sweatpants I bring out on a regular basis I really embrace that look during the school week. Here are some of my favorites from the whowhatwear.com newsletter I get!

Life in a Suitcase:

So this Winter Break I felt like I was always on the road...and in reality I was. I ended up home only for 3 days before I drove 7 hours to see my boyfriend in Duluth, MN then back home, then to Madison where I left with a caravan of gypsys (aka a bunch of my guy friends) to travel to Chicago for New Years. There a friend had rented out a bar and we got champagne ( a bottle for each of us ) on entering and danced the night into 2011. From there it was back to Madison to watch the rose bowl game which ended up with us all being depressed and drinking copius amounts of alcohol to make up for the pain of losing.
Part 2 of my journey is me driving home to meet up with my hometown friends to fly to Orlando, FL with them to spend a week at a friends timeshare. Thank god for a tan in this Wisconsin winter. From Florida I flew directly to NYC to meet with my fellow students in retail to go the the National Retail Federation Conference (3rd year for me attending and sadly last as a wisco student). NY was fantastic, it was the best of the 3x I had gone with my school on that trip. We went salsa dancing, ate great sushi, went to some great nightclubs and ate some fantastic food. We also got the chance to meet Lauren Conrad and Bobby Flay to see their new lines and partnerships with Kohls department stores (they sponsor our trip there).
From there it was home for 3 days, one touring apartments in Milwaukee where I will be moving in June (sad face), one watching the packer game (last game this weekend and if we win we are going to the superbowl!!!) before heading back to madison for my last semester there (again even bigger sad face).

Concrete Jungle

Where dreams are made. Its the city that never sleeps and one of my favorite travel destinations in the entire world. I have been to many cities but nothing ever is as fun or compares to the life and feeling you get when you are in NYC.

I was lucky enough this year to go with my school again to the National retail federation conference for my major. Also Kohls sponsors one day of our trip where we get to look at their design studio and we also got lucky enough to Meet...drum roll please

Lauren conrad
&
Bobby flay

we also got a preview of LCs line and got to eat appetizers while hearing from bobby at his restaurant Bar Americain.

There I went on a hunt for a great fur vest and also visited the new Kardashian store "DASH" in soho on Spring street. I was immediately in love with the wildfox shirts there, always have been a fan of the brand.

Still on the hunt and saving money to buy my speedy from LV next time I venture back to the city.

Also the shorts I have shown here look just like the ones Lauren wore. She paired them with a patterned coral top, black blazer, black shiny leggings and black pumps. Her hair was in the typical loose curls you see whenever she is in the spotlight.

Wearing my burberry scarf I was sky high with excitement as my group went to greenhouse night club, got sushi at sushi samba, went salsa dancing and ventured into Greenwich village to hit up a club that was close enough to end up at some full college bars "like off the wagon".

Overall a fantastic trip :) cant wait to go back to the city so nice they named it twice.

Crafts to make to keep up the holiday spirit!

I found an old applique design for gluing onto sweatshirts in one of my moms closets are home so I decided to be crafty and glue it onto one of my old headbands! Looks fabulous, look around your own house or an craft store because it is a unique way to reuse one of my headbands that was plain and I never wore. May wear it tonight with our Christmas dinner or tomorrow for Chirstmas day at the party my mom is throwing with our relatives at my home.

Made some great name cards for our table tonight for our Christmas Eve Dinner. My parents are making surf and turf with lobster and steak! Needless to say I am extremely excited.

Easily made these with just notecards and permanent markers I found around the house.

NUM NUMS for Christmas

Here is a simple wine glass. Take some pipecleaners in xmas colors and wind them around the stem or do in different colors so guests can know which glasses are theirs.
Here is a fun way to spice up any centerpiece. Take any sticks from outside and then tie pieces of ribbon onto it. Add on some pine pieces of branches and pine cones to finish the look.

Take a regular mattress frame covered with a sheet or just hang a sheet on the wall and then string chrismas lights behind it to give your house a fun new wall hanging or background to any space.

Here just take a upsidedown vase and fill with ornaments then put candles or another bowl ontop to finish the look. A quick easy centerpiece that you can make with things you own at home.

Finally to hide your regular vases take a knee high sock you have and cover the outside of the vase. If you have a christmas colored or pattered one that would be the most festive.

So yesterday I was home relaxing after a busy finals two weeks and decided to make my favorite! cookies, Spritz butter cookies. They have been ones to look forward to every christmas that I come home.

Yummy Spritz Cookies
* If you can refrain from eating the cookie dough, this recipe makes 4 dozen.
1 cup butter
3 egg yolks
2.5 cups flour
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to:
  1. Mix the butter, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Add the flour and mix by hand.
  2. Spoon into cookie press and press onto cookie sheets.
  3. Sprinkle with colored sugars. (Or, use red and green food coloring on smaller batches of the dough.)
  4. Bake @ 400 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

Yum yum yummys. I ate most of the batter and my mom ate at least 10 of the cookies so needless to say there might not be many for our christmas parties. :)
So make two batches please. I recommend because you will eat them all before you present them otherwise.
