OBsessed with Wilfox Couture's collections and now about to check into their Fall 09 one.
So far so good. I think they are onto something. This year is going to be about being stronger than the last. Kicking that downturned economy outtta here and having strength to continue our changes back to stability...or at least having a bit more of it in this business crazed world.

So I think that the tiger and the mask theme showed here is great for the new years time coming up. I think that mascarade themes are always a huge hit at this time but it's like a sales drop in retail. You can sell christmas lights like crazy but when xmas is over you better have cleaned out your inventory cause no one will be buying.

My theory is for the next couple years people will be staying with more stable and classic fashions so designers BEWARE! or stay chic with only bits of that edgyness thrown into neutrals with pops of colors.

Look up these shoes!!!! Jennifer Lopez look-a-likes and found at...
Nine West $60.00

Sex and the City 2 in....the desert!!!!?
Super intrigued. Check out this link to see the newly posted trailer:

Out this Spring!!! You'll see me at the midnight showing :)

Whats the difference between Tiger woods and santa?

Hah so I heard that joke the other day and again today at Christmas. The answer...well I'm not going to post that one at this time but let me know through email or otherwise if you want the answer.

Thought of the day: It's all up to you if you going to have a good day or not, if you are going to be upset or just get over yourself and live a better today. I find that usually when I am down Im just acting that way to get someone to notice and ask why I am down so that I can talk to them about something. But truly its not worth it. Just try thinking hey, I'm so blessed and things could always be worse.
Things could ALWAYS be worse. I am a strong believer in that. You got it bad...well sure you do but someone else still has it a lot worse than you do. Why complain? What's the benefit but to just enforce your own frustrated feelings and annoy the people around you.

So today I wasnt having the best morning start to christmas. One thing of the many that I was upset about it that my fish died this morning and I had to flush it. Yep sad. Poor little fishy. So I was moody but after awhile I decided it just wasnt worth it, especially on christmas when I got to be with people who love me and eat till I explode!

Seriously so much gooooood food today. And I just ate the apple pie I brought home for myself to cap off a delicious evening.

But back to what I can show you that I think is fantastic!....look up to next post

Merry Christmas! and ponderings before the new year

Christmas break has arrived! Which means a wonderful break from living in the library and going over countless facts until my brain feels like complete mush. It can drive a person crazy eating subway that many times in a week!! But it's time to kick back and enjoy the holiday home. It's definitively different this year since my brothers and sister are older and have their own lives and loved ones now...it's never as grand as when you were a kid it seems. But we all get older and in a way that comes with many great things too. I've come to appreciate being with people more than presents at all. Having ones you love around you is more you can ask for than any material gift they could give me... BUTTTT I did pick out a pretty banging Coach ring that is super fabulous in my eyes. It is the following one but in White and silver.
In other words, I just wanted to say that I have a secret.
The other love of my life is indeed cooking :) I have a passion for it and it really is more of a stress reliver and a creative outlet for me than most people know.
My goal this break is to look into getting some recipes tried out from the Julia Child book "Mastering the Art of French cooking" which is right now at Barnes and Nobles awaiting me to pick it up and try it out.
I am also looking into cooking classes I can take and me and my mom may try out making homemade pasta with a pasta making machine soon! So stay tuned.

I know that I haven't really written much but hopefully this break I can get back on the wagon a bit.
Watch out for me fashion and fun and now food tips...
and remember
Poise is something that you create within yourself. It's inward out. Each day try to live more, try more, listen more, and you will become a sponge for knowledge. In this way you are becoming more poised...and more happier at that.
Ciao!

Fall to winter here we go

Thank you Kohl's Department Stores for an amazing presentation last weekend!

Here are some of the new looks I love from Chloe! Her comfort fit and chic style is fabulous. #7 boots are a hot commodity for this winter season coming up. And it looks like ponchos are again back this season. Wrap around throws and ponchos are popping up in designer lines and department stores such as Kohls and Macys as we speak!

Bryant park is coming!!!! Fashion week is Feb 11-18 so everyone get ready for a whole new and fresh look then!
You can get the full schedule for fun and see all the designers coming at http://www.mbfashionweek.com/newyork/spring2010/schedule/index.html

Whats your sign?

Found this tee online and love the concept.
I am a big geek with horoscopes so this Firefox line of horoscope tees where you pick your sign on your shirt is right up my ally. Around 65.00 though
So my idea, get a tee at home and do it yourself :)

Who what wear

Elle Magazine's 2004 favorite designer of the year, Matthew Williamson, brings us his new collection of sunglasses. These round frames are still a fave of celebrities due to their flirty shape and fun translucent plastic. Clear and gold, these shades have black gradient lenses. The Matthew Williamson logo sits at the base of the bands, with a metal band concealed within the translucent plastic extending outward. Light weight and youthful.

Life With Bird brings us the Leibman Dress - the epitome of casual chic. This extra-long cowl neck tunic is [Model/Writer says:] ABSOLUTELY TO DIE FOR. Not only is it comfortable thrown on over a simple cotton tank, its effortlessly adorable on its own, with tights or leggings, and paired with boots.

Alice + Olivia jacket! So great!!! And cute with jeans for fall

Bobbi Brown glitter lip gloss, get this runway look from the fall shows!

Great new book :) read it, love it, visit the website and research

Fall fever

O SWEET LORD! It's going to be a crazy busy semester for me here at UW. I have some tough classes, lots of hw, and am starting to work at the local boutique called Pitaya. They are actually a chain with 15 stores nationwide and continuing to expand.
Check out their website and see what product I'm dealing with at
Pitaya.com
Here is where I work in madison...:)

I'm also Vice President of retail club this year and so I have been working on getting ready for out kickoff at Chasers on thursday sept. 15th at 7pm!!
Come to get free appetizers and a chance to win a plane ticket to our trip to the NRF Conference this january (you have to be a retail club member to participate in the trip)

So it's going to be long days and long nights hopefully not a ton at the library like last semester...but in the words of Lauren Conrad
"I truly believe that there is nothing frozen yogurt and Sex and the City reruns can't fix."

News from Madison

Designer...Celebs?
Delebrity Breed
So lately it seems to me that Designers like Marc and Lagerfeld just want to get press because the economy sucks. SOOOO goodie goodie who wants fashion to go that way? I guess the new trend if for them to socase themselves in new ways...say on bags?

Karl who? Karl Lagerfeld, that's who. Exclusively for Hint, our friends at Pattern People—who've created prints for Adidas apparel and Estee Lauder perfume packaging, as well as cutting-edge wallpapers and huge wrap-around room murals—have come up with these two limited-edition tribute totes. The noble busts of Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs sit nestled in a shrine of their trademark goodness, from pearls and gloves to plaid and skorts. Never again will you have to be separated from your own personal icon.

$45

Check out these and more at Hint's site

Hint fashion magazine

Target Has a New Designer for Winter Rodarte Collab"The 55-piece collection of feminine layering pieces and holiday dresses reveal "an amazing eye for detail" and go on sale starting December 20, just in time to make your last-minute holiday shopping that much more insane. Best of all, prices start at $10 and top out at about $80 (for a leopard-print coat that we're hoping will be luxe instead of cheapish looking), meaning that you can get your hands on a whole closetful of the Mulleavy sisters' wares for an incalculable fraction of the usual price. Here's hoping there's at least one webby, one-shouldered Frankenstein-esque minidress thrown into the mix"

New retail club flyer Im working on

This is the new flyer that I made for UW Madison's retail club this year. If anyone I know in the Madison area is interested in joining this year please look out for these and other flyers around campus. Also you can contact me or

Get a life miley
Okay Miley...how old are you again? Im sorry but i dont care who she is, going from disney to probably porno someday just isnt chic at all. Get a life young lady
I believe this photo is in an upcoming magazine. The tank top is really awesome though
Lauren Moshi tank :
It will cost you a pretty penny though, about $105.00

Nice toP! at top shop
I got this picture through an email the other day and was so pumped cause i have that tank top!! The one in pink with the flowers. It's from top shop and should run you about 28 dollars or so.
I bought it in London when I was studying abroad this summer.
Just make sure not to go on a weekend cause the place is so packed with teenagers and young girls that you are sweating and will get heat stroke after a 30 min shopping period. It gives you a headache but if you just grab the items that catch your eye (cause there are about 3 or 4 floors) then you should find some good things a good prices.

WILDFOX TEES AND TANKS
I am loving Wildfox shirts right now! They always have really edgy ads and are cool looking while still casual and comfy.
Tank Top $85.00
Can find some at singer22.com and other fashion sites

The FUTURE of cars and technology

No lie...these are future car seats!
"The future of vehicle seating looks like a rollercoaster ride! This new innovative design takes a whole new look at transportational seating arrangement and capabilities in the future. The 4NE1 is designed by Christopher Simmons, a student from Monash University, with the elderly and physically impaired in mind but as its name suggests (for anyone), anyone can use it, and kids might particularly enjoy the ride.

Each chair has excellent properties for impact absorption in frontal and rear impact collisions and is further supported by an ‘anti-whiplash’ back rest that comes forward upon impact. The system is suspended from a roof and may be temporarily stored away on the roof ceiling, or removed completely from the vehicle to maximize space or for maintenance purposes. The seats will be made from a patent-pending lightweight fibre-composite developed by Futuris Automotive, which has superb structural properties."

More for fun to check out

2 Great new vintage sites to check out (on the radar)

1. Adore Vintage

Another next-generation vintage site that's mixing the old with the new, Adore Vintage has an impressive range of dresses from the '50s and '60s (if that's your style). But if you're in the market for some serious old-school jewelry at equally vintage prices, you've come to the right place.

What We Want: Tuscan Sun Necklace, $39.

2. Spanish Moss Vintage
The vibe here is definitely thrift-store princess, but with such reasonable prices, you can take a chance on some great-looking '70s boots or a little romper without too much guilt.

What We Want: '70s Denim Playsuit, $71; '70s Riding Boots, $139.

So this is hilarious. Found at trend hunter website...
Its a condom holder that companies are trying to brand in Japan that is in your belt buckle. For men and women.

"enjoy romance" for the sex addict on the go?

To funny...whats next? a watch that a condom pops out of?

Site to love

www.Streetpeeper.com

a great site to check out new styles in all the major cities around the world. Seoul and Paris always have new interesting yet chic clothing on the street.

Short jumpsuits are still in. Grab one while they are still hot and do-it-yourself chic by adding on a peacock feather such as the one I found at singer22.com here on the left. Be creative...ps where a headband across the forehead. The hippie vibe is so awesome right now.

Dress by chanel. I am channeling my inner wedding planner with my sister getting married in oct! So close!

Try new looks like ruffles, fringing. Here one designer took the trend of cut off tops into a wedding dress.

I mean its customary to end every show with the wedding dress so I say all the more power to designers to embrace this wedding season and be creative!

Brickfirst Scholarship

I just entered the Brickfish scholarship contest for a great picture! Please see my paris picture I submitted and vote for me!

Shopper time

This is interesting if you are looking into putting customers into target market segments...
"

New study divides shoppers by behavior

GMA SmartBrief | 07/20/2009

A Henkel Consumer Goods study of consumer behavior looked at three years of data and divided shoppers into three categories based on behaviors. "Shoptimizers" are influenced by pre-shopping stimuli such as coupons and circulars. "Mainstreeters" are sensitive to in-store promotions, and "Carefrees" ignore prices and buy what they want. New innovations and trends for you!

Please, I know it's completely corny looking its good and a great beach read I swear! :) I am half way through and highly surprised at my enjoyment of the book. LC is also currently working on a draft for a 2nd edition so ill cross my fingers for another book!

I thought this was really neat! Its "The Amana-Jot refrigerator from Whirlpool is a giant food-preserving whiteboard". I would have loved this as a kid and its a great way to leave messages or notes to your self and your family during the day!

--June weather boosts in sales
There could be hope for me and everyone else trying to get work in retail. "UK retail sales values rose 1.4% on a like-for-like basis and 3.2% on a total basis, from June 2008, when sales had been hit by cold wet weather, figures from the British Retail Consortium reveal." Now thats more like it. Lets get rid of this recession please.

--River Island
Riverisland.com
I love this brand and I just discovered it a few months back. Look into it now because i guarantee it's trying to be the new Forever 21. "River Island has confirmed it will proceed with developing a new national distribution building at Magna Park, Milton Keynes." With this expansion it will most likely have a faster turnover which means it will rival topshop, H&M, and forever 21 in getting new trends in and out like light speed.

Love this purple WILLOW top on this lady in West Broadway.

Also check out this website to get images of street style and how people are putting together outfits from Paris to Berlin.

Pardon the Absence

So I have been lacking on posts recently because I have actually been studying in Paris for awhile in Trend Forecasting and Fashion Styling.
It really was an absolutely amazing trip there and even though I didn't know French I was able to cope and really feel like I was living there by the end of it.

Here is a girl that I found at a local bar that I thought had an absolutely great outfit. Very menswear inspired and yet with feminine touches.

Here is a girl I spotted on the metro that I thought also had really cute boots.

Styling tips for your new year

Style tip I LIVE by in Makeup!

  • I swear by this, liquid eyeliner
  • Any black and brand works usually fine but this is my personal favorite
  • It's found at any local Walgreens for only $2.99! by wet n' wild
  • I put on foundation or concealer over your lids as a matte and then eyeshadow and finish it off with the liner just along the top eyelid
  • Then just use your eyelash curler and mascara for an amazing clean and sophisticated look for day or night

Boots that won't kick away your money

Gojane.com (Great deals on clothes, accessories, and amazing prices on all of their shoes like these I have here)

only $16.80

$25.99

$20.00

Adapt your clothing!

  • So you always hear from magazines and articles about fashion, ways to take one piece and change it up from day to night, office to going out for the weekend. Really though it's so true! In reality we don't have all the money to spend on new clothes all the time and whole new outfits. The key to being stylish is taking what you have and your bargain clothing and spicing it up with new accessories and expensive or fun add-ons.
  • Here is an example of taking the LBD and changing the look of it. YOU HAVE to invest in a LBD because once you learn how to make it casual you will be able to wear it anywhere and anytime I swear!
